Loser – Kevin Sumlin

Kevin Sumlin can’t exactly be feeling the best about his job security right now. After his team blew a 34-point lead against the UCLA Bruins, Sumlin and the Aggies finally got their first win against Nicholls State.

The problem being they let their opponent they should have blown out make a game of it. This was a discussion point in the Todd Graham portion last week. An uninspiring win against a lesser opponent does nothing for a coach.

Barely getting by Nicholls State isn’t going to make anyone feel better about the Aggies as they move forward. Even if they blew them out, he wasn’t going to really help his cause this week with the win.

The problem is that he could always hurt it a little more. This game did that and now Sumlin has to hope they turn on the burners against Louisiana Lafayette next week. It’s the same situation, where he can’t improve his stock, but he can always hurt it.

Then it gets interesting in a couple weeks. The Aggies begin conference play against Arkansas in a game where both coaches could be fighting for their jobs. Turnover in the SEC among coaches is once again on the horizon.
