Boston College Eagles 1-1

Last week: Lost 34-10 to Wake Forest
Last rank: 11

Boston College is lucky that this wasn’t a bigger jump in the power rankings this week after how poorly they played at home against Wake Forest last weekend, and the Eagles are going to need to redeem themselves this upcoming weekend if they want to get back up on the list next week.

Everything went wrong for the Eagles in a 34-10 loss, and they lost their first in-conference action of the season to a mediocre Wake Forest squad in front of their home crowd for the first time this season. I had a reader tweet at me saying that the Eagles weren’t as bad as Wake Forest and deserved a higher spot on the rankings after the first release, and now here we are a few weeks later with this dumpster fire to talk about.

North Carolina Tar Heels 0-2

Last week: Lost 47-35 to Louisville
Last rank: 13

They dropped pretty far last week, all the way down to the 13 spot on the rankings last Tuesday after a rough loss to California, but North Carolina moved back up this week even in a losing effort that moved them to 0-2 on the year.

The Tar Heels found themselves in a shootout with Louisville on Saturday afternoon, and just fell victim to the dominance that is Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals offense. It was an impressive showing given the horrible play we witnessed to open the 2017 season from North Carolina, and it was enough to justify a jump in the rankings for this week.
