Iowa State Cyclones 1-1

Last week: Loss vs Iowa, 44-41
Last rank: 8th

Like Kansas, Iowa State fell back down after a Week 1 win. However, its second win of the season was inches away, with a game against Iowa that went to overtime. A game-winning touchdown from the Hawkeyes put the game away at 44-41.

The Cyclones put up a strong fight and will look to keep things going against Akron. An early 2-1 record could do wonders for Iowa State, even if it results in just five or six wins by season’s end. It would be an improvement over 2016. Games against Kansas and Baylor are more than winnable, so it’s possible this Big 12 team builds its way toward a positive season.
