Josh Rosen

Quarterback, UCLA

The San Francisco 49ers looked pretty bad in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s debut on Sunday, as they mustered up only a field goal against the Carolina Panthers. Judging by their performance on the offensive side of the ball, it is clear they need a quarterback, and luckily for them, this draft class is loaded with them. Both Shanahan and general manager John Lynch were given six-year deals, so it is time to start turning this thing around.

Over at UCLA, Josh Rosen is making sure everybody forgets about his injury-plagued sophomore season a year ago. In Week 1, Rosen led the Bruins on a magical comeback against Texas A&M, willing his team to victory by throwing for nearly 300 yards in the fourth quarter alone. He followed that performance up with five touchdowns this past week against Hawaii, cementing his place as one of the best quarterbacks in college football.

Many experts like Josh Allen before Rosen, but I have not seen enough good play against good teams to move him to the No. 2 quarterback in this draft class. Rosen can make all the throws, and has that killer instinct that NFL teams look for in a quarterback. He is going to go really high in this draft, and it looks like the San Francisco 49ers will play their way into a top-five pick once again in 2017.
