If gamers and fans thought that there was anyway that the NBA Live 18 cover athlete wasn’t going to be the tops at his position, those people don’t understand marketing. The intrigue that remains is whether the man at the top of this list has the highest overall rating of all players, however.

  1. James Harden, Houston Rockets, 95 – Matching his former teammate Westbrook’s overall rating for the highest among thus-far revealed players, Harden’s 96 rating in Shot off the Dribble and Clutch make him a great compliment to Paul.
  2. Jimmy Butler, Minnesota Timberwolves, 91 – Don’t sleep on this Minnesota roster, either in real life or the game. Butler is rated at least 90 in ten different categories, and he won’t be the last Timberwolves player on these lists.
  3. DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors, 90 – DeRozan combines with Lowry to arguably give Toronto the best guard tandem in the Eastern Conference. DeRozan is rated at least 90 in 11 skills.
  4. Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors, 90 – Golden State is now two for two in having players in the top four of each position ranking, as Thompson is just slightly edged out in number of categories rated at least 90 by DeRozan.
  5. CJ McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers, 88 – Keeping with the theme of dynamic guard duos, McCollum compliments Lillard by carrying three 90-plus skill ratings.
  6. Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards, 87 – If gamers haven’t caught on by now that talented guards improve each others’ ratings in the game, then it’s unclear what more it will take to get that message across. Take the court with Beal and Wall to find out how synergy works.
  7. Avery Bradley, Detroit Pistons, 85 – With 95 On-Ball Defense and 90 Defensive Awareness ratings to go with a 94 Stamina, Bradley should significantly upgrade the Detroit defense on the real court as well as the electronic hardwood.
  8. Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns, 85 – Ratings of 90 in Clutch and Speed enhanced by a 92 Stamina make him nearly equal to Bradley, who is just slightly ahead of him in composite skill numbers.
  9. Dwyane Wade, Chicago Bulls, 85 – His contract situation with the team is up in the air, but his status in the game is concrete. After all these years, he still has a 91 Stamina rating.
  10. Khris Middleton, Milwaukee Bucks, 85 – A rising force in the Eastern Conference, Milwaukee is augmented by Middleton’s 88 ratings in Stamina, Mid-Range Shot, 3-Point Shooting and Free Throws.
