LOS ANGELES, CA – AUGUST 26: Philip Rivers /

Rivers was not drafted as a high-impact quarterback but this week is a great example of where he still has value.

Philip Rivers faced one of the best secondaries and defenses in the entire NFL last week in the Denver Broncos. Rivers still finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback after throwing three touchdown passes.

This week the Chargers welcome the Dolphins to their new home in Los Angeles, a Dolphins secondary that was bottom-10 in both passing points and passing touchdowns last year. They did little to improve that unit this offseason.

Rivers also got primary target Keenan Allen back last week after missing the majority of last season with an ACL injury. Paired with tight ends Antonio Gates and Hunter Henry, the weapons are there for Rivers to excel.

The biggest impact that the Chargers made this summer was along the offensive line. With Rivers being protected against a mediocre secondary he would be a must start for me.

The Dolphins are tough to judge after not playing in Week 2. Rivers and company, after an impressive loss to Denver, are looking to bounce back. Miami is the perfect opportunity for that to happen.
