The undersized but lightning quick running back should be plucked from the waiver wire and plugged into the starting lineup.

Tarik Cohen joined fellow rookie running backs Dalvin Cook and Kareem Hunt as players that impressed in their debut games. Cohen, however, was the only one of the three to do so in a loss. The Bears lost to the Atlanta Falcons in a surprisingly close game, thanks a bunch to Cohen’s playmaking ability.

The rookie out of North Carolina A&T was used all over the field. Chicago used Cohen in the slot, out of the backfield and even a stint at wildcat quarterback. He finished the day rushing five times for 66 yards and catching eight of his team-high 12 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown.

If your league is like mine, Cohen went to the highest priority waiver. This week he gets the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While their defense is middle of the pack they struggle containing running backs who can catch. They finished in the bottom ten in stopping running back catches last season.

Cohen is not just a great play for PPR but has standard scoring appeal as well. Lead back Jordan Howard popped up on the injury report this week. If Howard misses the game, which is unlikely, Cohen’s value only increases.

With this game likely to get out of hand for Chicago, and them needing to play catch-up, Cohen’s value only rises. He is now the sole pass-catching back, and may be the best pass-catcher of an underwhelming wide receiving core.

I’m jumping on the Cohen hype train and riding it to victory!
