Who are the top running back sleepers for Week 2? We give you 10 to choose from this weekend.

In this series, we identify players who you will want to find space for in your starting lineups this week. We cover names who aren’t on your list of “must-starts”, but could fit into gaps where you need a boost.

10. Darren Sproles

The Philadelphia Eagles running game was absolutely terrible on Sunday in their opener against Washington. LeGarrette Blount only managed 46 yards on 14 carries, with a longest run of seven yards. Sproles and Wendell Smallwood only had six combined rushes, but it was the savvy veteran who had a big impact in the passing game, hauling in five balls for 43 yards – he still has the ability to beat whoever is covering him one-on-one.

Sproles was used a lot (perhaps too much) as a runner last season, but this year the Eagles are trying to get him back where he belongs – as a receiver out of the backfield. He’s kicked thing off well, and should be involved throughout the year.

This week, the Eagles come up against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road. We’ve already established Alshon Jeffery as someone to sit based on his matchup with elite cornerback Marcus Peters, so where does that leave the rest of the Eagles? Patriots’ runners combined for 124 yards on the ground last week, so Philadelphia will hope to get rolling on the ground. But they also have an offense and quarterback that tends to share the wealth, and Sproles, Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz are all crucial parts of their success. Sproles is a potentil play in PPR leagues.
