There was a heavyweight battle between draft prospects on Saturday. With Notre Dame taking on Boston College, Mike McGlinchey and Harold Landry squared off. The top pass rusher in the nation taking on arguably the top tackle was a battle everyone wanted to see.
For McGlinchey it was a solid day at the office, as Landry finished with just a tackle on the day. Once again, the Notre Dame offensive line had their way with their opponent. McGlinchey struggled a little bit against Georgia, but he had a fine effort this week.
Both he and Quenton Nelson found themselves opening up massive holes for the offense to work. Notre Dame’s success this season has been behind the strength of their offensive line and they’re ultimately going to be the two that take the team where they want to go.
McGlinchey’s height might lead to some concerns about leverage, but it certainly hasn’t appeared to be an issue yet. With tape like that of yesterday’s game and against Temple, he should be one of the first tackles off the board.
As mentioned before, they have the Spartans next week and another opportunity to really keep that buzz going on the road. McGlinchey has showed tremendous leadership in addition to blocking ability. Expect another battle next week.
