3. Michigan State Spartans vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

It was only a few years ago that this game would have been in contention to be the best game of the week. That’s not the case this year after the teams combined to win seven games last year. Notre Dame is headed into a tough environment and the night crowd is sure to be in high spirits after consuming a high number of spirits while tailgating all morning and afternoon. But expect Brian Kelly to leave East Lansing with a win.

I really like what I’ve seen from Notre Dame running back Josh Adams who has 443 yards and a pair of touchdowns this year. The bruising 6-2, 225-pound junior is coming off a 229-yard performance in the win against Boston College. No, he won’t average 12.7 yards per carry like he did last week, but he’s been a force this year, and that will continue against the Spartans defense. And I also like the development of Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush in his first year as the team’s starter. He hasn’t been asked to do a whole lot with Adams carrying the load offensively, but if Kelly needs to open up the playbook and get a play downfield, he should be able to trust Wimbush to make a play.
