Fantasy football: top 10 waiver wire Week 3 pickups
7. Jalen Richard
The Raiders are a hot team at the moment. On Sunday, they absolutely smashed the Jets and at one point scored touchdowns on four straight drives. In the previous game, they headed into Tennessee and dealt with a Titans team that was a playoff contender last years and should be again this year. Derek Carr is on fire so far, boasting a 75 percent completion rate and five touchdowns compared to zero picks. There are going to be a lot of opportunities for fantasy points within this offense.
Both Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington are key pieces behind Marshawn Lynch, who looks like he’s returning to “Beast Mode” form in Oakland. But so far, Richard looks like the most electric of the two, and the Raiders made an effort to get the ball in his hands against New York. Richard had six rushing attempts for 58 yards (which led the team), two catches for 51 and really added an element of speed to the ground game.
Make no mistake, Lynch is the clear number one and fantasy back to own, but Richard can be a relevant and useful back in fantasy football. He’s certainly worth a gamble in deeper leagues, as they may look to feature him even more after an electrifying performance this week.
