2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets, 49ers get their franchise quarterbacks
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals have been one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL through the first two weeks, as they failed to score a single touchdown in two straight home games. Their quarterback, Andy Dalton, looks lost, and they have really gotten nothing from their running backs either.
The team spent a couple of early picks to bolster their offense in the 2017 NFL Draft, so I expect them to go defense next April.
Arguably the best defensive player in this draft is Derwin James, who is definitely the best defensive back prospect. The Bengals need to get better in the secondary, and James would give them the kind of safety that can really change games. He has been a star during his time at Florida State, and would be a key piece for a franchise who needs to blow it up and rebuild.
For head coach Marvin Lewis, this is likely his last season with the team. Even in good years, Lewis has failed to win a single playoff game, and the fan base is looking for the organization to turn the page. There is way too much talent on this roster to be such a bad team at this point, and it is not out of the realm of possibility to see them drafting this high when draft time rolls around in 2018.
