Best NFL games of Week 3: Marcus Mariota, Russell Wilson meet in Nashville showdown
By Joe Schiller
1. Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions
It’s not a primetime matchup, but it might as well be. The Falcons travel to Ford Field to take on the Lions in a game that won’t disappoint. Both teams are undefeated and playing some of the best football in the NFL right now.
I truly think the Falcons are the best in the NFC. They look like one of the most complete teams early on this season. There’s sign of a Super Bowl hangover and they look good enough to get back to the big game again this season. Last Sunday’s dominating performance against the Packers was indicative of that. The final score made the game closer than it appeared, but it was all Falcons. They dominated on every facet of the ball and Matt Ryan and the offense are proving to be too much to handle.
On the other hand, Jim Caldwell’s squad is a playing some great football as well. Not many predicted this team to start of the season this strong, but the Lions are showing that they are a legit contender in the NFC this year. They put together an impressive performance on Monday Night Football and dominated the New York Giants.
I’m looking to see how the Lions secondary handles Julio Jones and the Falcons wide receivers on Sunday. Darius Slay will have his hands full trying to track down the All Pro receiver. Jones is one of the best receivers getting off the line of scrimmage and creating separation in the air. Coming off a 100-yard performance, he’s looking to do the same on Sunday.

The Falcons are the favorite coming in and should win this game. I’ll take them, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Lions pull off the upset. This game is an early glimpse of two teams that will be in contention come the end of the regular season.
