After nearly shutting out the Chicago Bears, everyone expected the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to roll into Minnesota and beat the Vikings. It might not have been a blowout win and was likely to be a close game, but it wasn’t hard to argue how Tampa might handle the Vikings. When Sam Bradford was ruled out, the momentum swung even harder to the Buccaneers side of things.

That’s what made it so stunning that the Vikings so soundly beat the Buccaneers into the turf on Sunday. Case Keenum was Joe Montana against a Buccaneers defense that a week ago smothered Mike Glennon and the Bears. Jameis Winston threw three back-breaking interceptions, including one that killed any hope of a late-game comeback.

Let’s not skirt too far away from Case Keenum turning into the greatest quarterback ever. Historically, he’s had the Bucs number. The last three years he’s beaten Tampa Bay with three different teams (the Rams in 2015 and 2016). But beyond Keenum’s stellar performance, we have more evidence to wonder what the hell the Vikings are. They played putrid on the road (with Keenum) against the Steelers but have twice played outrageously well at home twice. Minnesota has scored 63-points at home and appear to be a team that if things are figured out at the right time, they could be dangerous down the stretch.
