North Carolina Tar Heels 1-3

Last week: Lost 27-17 to Duke
Last rank: 10

North Carolina has become that one team week in and week out that isn’t good enough to win games but impresses me with their heart against some really great teams. Between their battle with Louisville and this week’s war with a big rival in Duke, they proved that the record doesn’t tell the whole story.

The Tar Heels may be the type of team this year that pulls off some upsets and shocks teams but isn’t good enough to string together multiple wins at a time. They’re dangerous, but the talent just doesn’t match up with some of their competition in the ACC.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons 4-0

Last week: Won 20-19 over Appalachian St.
Last rank: 9

Wake Forest is one of the multiple undefeated teams on this list that can’t really get any positive movement going after the raucous week in the ACC this past weekend, and it’s mainly due to how close their game was on Saturday.

The Demon Deacons have actually looked solid through the first four weeks of the season, but a one-point win over Appalachian State isn’t exactly going to cut it if you’re looking to make a mark in the power rankings. Especially in a week like we had in Week 4, and you’re going to have to do a lot more than what Wake Forest did if you’re looking to have a new number next to your name.
