LeGarrette Blount $3900 vs Los Angeles Chargers

Blount leads the Eagles in both carries and yards. Competition for carries got a little weaker with Darren Sproles tearing his ACL and breaking his arm on the same play Sunday. While Wendell Smallwood will assume the Sproles role, Blount should continue to see the workload he has across the first three games, if not an increase.

Philadelphia travels to play the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, a fantastic matchup for Blount. The Chargers give up the most rushing yards per game to opposing running backs, opposing running backs are averaging 5.3 yards per carry against this Chargers defense.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson has already talked about how quarterback Carson Wentz is throwing the ball too much. The second-year quarterback is in the top five in pass attempts per game. The Eagles have been in close games all season. There is no reason for Pederson to abandon the run. In fact, in their loss to Kansas City, Wentz threw the ball 46 times. In the team’s two wins, Wentz averaged 35 pass attempts.

That number needs to be closer to the 35 than the 36 for the Eagles to secure a win and Blount to continue to have fantasy value. At such a low price tag of $3900, he is a great value. DraftKings has him ranked as the 63rd-best running back with his price tag. This matchup could have Blount finishing much, much higher than that.

Runner-up: Jacquizz Rodgers $4400 vs New York Giants

This could be the last week the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ running back appears on this list. Next week Doug Martin returns from suspension and will assume lead back duties. For this final week Rodgers, will get the nod as a DraftKings value.

In his appearances filling in for Martin it is clear that Tampa Bay trusts him to be their workhorse back. He impressed in Week 2 against the Bears. In Week 3 the game script of Minnesota leading for the majority made a major dent on his impact. This week the Bucs welcome the New York Giants into Tampa.

The Giants, last year’s best defense, have regressed this year. They are allowing the third-most yards to opposing running backs. The team is also tied for the most rushing attempts by opposing running backs. Offensive coordinators obviously understand that the Giants dominant pass rushers and outstanding secondary can be negated by a constant rushing attack.

Jameis Winston looked bad in Week 3 against Minnesota. If Tampa can stay competitive with the 0-3 Giants Rodgers should see a workload closer to Week 2 than Week 3. The 40th-ranked running back has a shot at the top 20 easily this week.
