 High Value Quarterbacks

The value quarterbacks are always an interesting bunch. I’ve ranked them in the confidence that I have in each as a value. Typically these value plays are quarterbacks that are 15th or lower in their positional ranks.

Trevor Siemian – Denver Broncos( 5200): Trevor Siemian of the Denver Broncos tops the best quarterback values list. The young signal-caller has been up and down this season but performed well at home. This week he gets the leaky Oakland Raiders in Denver. There are six defenses around the NFL who have yet to register an interception. The  Raiders are on that list. Oakland is the fourth friendliest defense to opposing quarterback. The unit averages 20.46 points per game for quarterbacks. Those stats are concerning because they’ve faced the 15th most pass attempts in the league. Siemian has talent outside and can use his underrated athleticism should the play breakdown. Ranked as DraftKings 26th quarterback makes him an amazing value play to spend your money elsewhere.

Jay Cutler – Miami Dolphins (5800): Cutler comes in second in confidence as a value play. The New Orleans Saints, Cutler’s Sunday opponent, are one of the youngest defenses in league history based on average age of starters in Week 1. After a no-show performance against the New York Jets, I see the team bouncing back against the Saints. Even after New Orlean’s performance last week they still allow the second most points to opposing quarterbacks per game, trailing only the New England Patriots. They’re tied for the third most touchdowns allowed. Finally, they’ve given up the second most yards to opponents. Cutler is DraftKings’ 16th ranked quarterback.

Jared Goff – Los Angeles Rams (5600): Goff and the Rams play the Dallas Cowboys and a secondary that has been torched in recent weeks. The second-year quarterback and his entire offense look like a different team under their new coach. As DraftKings’ 20th ranked quarterback, he could provide tremendous value.

Tyrod Taylor – Buffalo Bills (5300) or Deshaun Watson – Houston Texans (5100):Finally Tyrod Taylor and Deshaun Watson can be lumped together. Taylor and the Buffalo Bills play the Atlanta Falcons. This is not a positive matchup for Taylor but the Falcons are not an elite unit either. Houston Texans rookie Deshaun Watson gets the Tennessee Titans after an impressive performance in Week 3 against New England. Both quarterbacks can make plays with their legs which puts them in value territory almost every week. Rushing yards and touchdowns are a valuable skill for fantasy quarterbacks who may not be the best passers. Both could easily finish in the top ten while currently sitting at 23rd and 27th respectively on DraftKings.
