Houston Texans / James Harden Cooking Dance

Yes, Houston Texan defensive end J.J. Watt already does the one-time Houston Rockets player Dikembe Mutombo finger wag. In fact, it was a whole thing back in 2014, when Mutombo said he wanted to charge Watt a royalty for using the finger wag but also that it brought great joy to his heart that Watt was carrying on his (finger wag’s) legacy.

But there’s another Rocket with an equally well-known celebration: One James Harden and his much-disputed cookin’ dance (also known as his stirring the pot celebration). In spring 2017, Harden was warned by NBA-player-cursing rapper Lil B that he needed to acknowledge his dance’s relation to that of the Based God. Harden refused.

In any case, Lil B has not yet extended his extracurricular hexing activities to the NFL, so the Texans should act fast and embrace the James Harden cooking dance, adding it to their repertoire of NBA-adjacent celebrations before it’s too late.

Chicago Bears / Michael Jordan Shrug

Honestly, it feels a little disrespectful to align something associated with greatness with the 2017 Chicago Bears. And yet, Michael Jordan’s shrug is a truly delightful celebration, one that deserves to be recreated in honor and joy across multiple sports leagues. As such, we’re left with no choice but to recommend the Bears add an extra dose of shrugging to their on-field activities.

However, should the Carolina Panthers — Noted Celebrators — choose to embrace the MJ shrug, that would, technically, still abide by the loose rules of local NBA star celebration outlined in this exercise.
