High-value quarterbacks

Value quarterbacks are an interesting option this week with the top five quarterbacks being an odd bunch. I’ve ranked them in the confidence I have in starting them this week. With so many teams on the bye, I’ve included any quarterback not in DraftKings’ top ten. The best values for Week 5 are:

Carson Palmer – Arizona Cardinals ($5900): Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Carson Palmer got off to a rough start to the season against the Detroit Lions in Week 1. He has sinced bounced back and currently has the second most passing yards in the league. Arizona plays the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Eagles secondary is a unit that all fantasy owners should be targeting. They’ve allowed the second most passing yards through give weeks. The Cardinals have struggled to run the ball since David Johnson went down. This game could turn into a shoot out and Palmer will be racking up the yards. I like him as the best value with DraftKings ranking him as the 12th best quarterback.

Tyrod Taylor – Buffalo Bills ($5000): The Buffalo Bills are best known for their running game which includes mobile quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Taylor, even with his headlines as a runner, currently ranks as the 17th best fantasy quarterback. Like most running quarterbacks, the rushing will keep a bad Taylor game from completely being a disaster. This week the Bills travel to Cincinnati to play the Bengals. The Bengals have given up the most rushing yards to opposing quarterback in the league. If you are looking for a quarterback with a high floor, Taylor would be a great bet.

Josh McCown – New York Jets ($4500): One of the few positive matchups for quarterbacks comes from the Cleveland Browns. This week Cleveland gets tasked with stopping New York Jets’ quarterback Josh McCown. The Jets are on a two game winning streak and are looking to make it three against the pass friendly Browns. McCown, like Taylor, will have a high floor due to the team trying to control the clock. I’d be weary thrusting him into a lineup with Taylor only a $500 increase in terms of value, however, McCown could surprise folks against a weak defense.
