High-priced quarterbacks

To start things off there are the quarterbacks. The top-five priced DraftKings quarterbacks are:

Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers ($8100): Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers gets the nod as the highest priced quarterback. His matchup against the Dallas Cowboys is no doubt a big reason why. The Cowboys have been abysmal this season against the pass. Not including the team’s opening week win against the New York Giants, the Cowboys are the second worst defense against opposing quarterbacks. Rodgers torched this same defense only a year ago, and this secondary is worse. The future Hall of Fame quarterback is worth the price tag in a week with little other positive quarterback matchups.

Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks ($7100): Highlighting how little favorable quarterback matchups are out there, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks comes in with the second highest price tag, $1000 less than Rodgers. Wilson will face the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams currently rank as the 15th best team against the pass. They’re coming off a week against the Cowboys where they allowed 252 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson will be void of most of a running game with Chris Carson injured. This is not a particularly fantasy friendly matchup with the dominant Rams’ front four and Seattle’s weak offensive line.

Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys ($6800): Dallas Cowboys quarterback, and defending rookie of the year, Dak Prescott comes in as the third ranked DraftKings’ quarterback. The Cowboys, as previously mentioned, welcome the Packers to Dallas on Sunday. The Packers defense has been surprisingly better this year than expected. They rank as the sixth best against opposing quarterbacks. This again highlights the lack of available friendly matchups for quarterbacks this week. Prescott’s play has been up and down this season, it is odd seeing him ranked this high .

Carson Wentz – Philadelphia Eagles (6600): Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz slots in as the fourth highest priced quarterback. The fellow second year signal caller currently has the tenth most yards in the league through four weeks. His Eagles play the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Cardinals are the 13th-worst team to opposing quarterbacks. If he can stay away from Patrick Peterson, Wentz can have a big day.

Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers (6500): The Carolina Panthers had a much needed bounce back game last Sunday against the New England Patriots. Quarterback Cam Newton is returning to his MVP form and comes in as DraftKings’ fifth highest priced quarterback. The Panthers travel to Detroit on Sunday to take on the Lions. Detroits secondary features Darius Slay and Glover Quin. Outside of those two there are below averages players filling it out. They’ve surrendered the ninth most quarterback yards in the league but are second in the league with seven interceptions. If Newton stays true to his form he found against New England it won’t matter. If he reverts back to the player we saw through three weeks, the Panthers and Newton owners are in trouble.
