High Value Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor – Buffalo Bills ($5,100): Did you know that Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor has outscored NFL MVP Matt Ryan this season? The dual threat quarterback has dealt with blows to his top pass catchers seemingly every week and still performed. This week Buffalo plays the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers defense is coming off a week where they were shredded by Adrian Peterson on the ground and Carson Palmer through the air. They’re currently allowing the third most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Taylor may be welcoming back top receiver Jordan Matthews this week as well. With or without Matthews, Taylor is in line for a big day. He would be my top value play, over $2000 cheaper than the top-tier quarterbacks, allowing you to spend big on a wide receiver or running back.

C.J. Beathard – San Francisco 49ers ($4,900): The San Francisco 49ers handed their offense over to rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard mid-game last week. This week Beathard will make his first career start. The 49ers play the Dallas Cowboys, a pass friendly defense. Beathard will be hard to trust but he has a positive matchup. He also gets to play in an offense run by Kyle Shannahan, a big bonus. If the rookie can limit turnovers, there will be plenty of opportunities. San Francisco will likely trail in this game and Beathard will be forced to make plays, which always is a positive for DraftKings players. Again, he is a tough play with limited playing time but he has a positive matchup and should have the game flow in his favor.

Blake Bortles – Jacksonville Jaguars ($4,700): Speaking of a tough play, it feels like all fantasy players have been let down by Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles. This year Bortles has been asked to do as little as possible. The Jaguars offense clearly runs through their running game and limiting Bortles attempts. Even in those limited attempts, Bortles has six touchdowns over the last four weeks. Week 7 brings the Jaguars to Indianapolis to play the Colts. The Colts are the fifth friendliest defense to opposing quarterbacks. This may be a long shot but Bortles could toss a few touchdowns here against a porous Colts defense. Basically you start Bortles if you think Leonard Fournette’s ankle will limit him and Bortles gets more opportunities.
