Mike Riley – Winner

After two big losses at home to Wisconsin and Ohio State, the Nebraska Cornhuskers did exactly what they needed to do this past week. Mike Riley’s squad went out on the road and pulled out a close win over Purdue.

That evened their record up and gives them a chance to be bowl eligible this season. Even if they finish with just one more win on the year, there is still a chance they can get in and have done so from the spot before.

What it does for his chances remains to be seen and it should still be considered bleak. With the old athletic director out and the program not performing up to standard, Riley’s definitely seen better days.

Right now though, his focus is on coaching and he got the important win that he needed. It can be easy for a program to roll over after two demoralizing losses, but they held it together and picked up a road victory.

That keeps them alive for a chance at a bowl and to give themselves something to work toward to end the season. Up next for the Cornhuskers is a home tilt against Northwestern. A victory should give them some momentum going into a huge final three games.
