1. The Buckeyes are down right now

The Michigan State Spartans are only winning the Big Ten East if they can defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes next week. That game will be for the Big Ten East and the winner will move on to compete for a shot in the Rose Bowl next month in the conference title game presuming no other chaos happens.

While it’s on the road, the Spartans have shown no fear upsetting the Buckeyes before. With a defense that doesn’t give an inch, J.T. Barrett is going to have to be at his best against the Spartans at home.

Ohio State got blown out on the road against Iowa. Between injuries and an ejection to Nick Bosa, it was an ugly day for the Buckeyes. We’ll see how Urban Meyer gets his guys to respond now that they’ve been effectively eliminated from any playoff chances.

There’s a chance that they come out fired up and ready to finish strong and there’s also a chance that they’re down right now. If they come out sluggish, it’s going to be the perfect recipe for Michigan State to get an early jump.

We know that the Spartans are going to put up a strong defensive effort. If Lewerke can have another big day passing the ball, it could be the next step on the road toward what could culminate in a conference title.
