4. The Goff to Watkins connection

Sammy Watkins caught just one pass today against the Giants, but he made it worth his while. Already up 10 points midway through the second quarter, Jared Goff found Watkins on a deep bomb down the middle of the field. Watkins hauled in the catch in stride and walked into the end zone for the score.

The Giants secondary had absolutely no chance on this play from the start. The Rams traded for Watkins over the offseason and while he’s been up and down, these kinds of plays are why he’s such an exciting player. All it takes is one play for Watkins to change a game. It’s a little concerning he didn’t catch another pass the rest of the day but the Rams can’t complain when they put up 51 points.

3. Odell Beckham who?

With Odell Beckham out for the season, someone has to take over for him right? Jaguars rookie receiver Keelan Cole went OBJ on this incredible catch against the Bengals today.

No, it doesn’t compare to Beckham’s legendary catch a few years ago, but it was an impressive grab nonetheless. It was a crucial third down and Cole made it look like a routine catch. Cole even had to turn his body and use his opposite hand to make the grab. We’ve seen a lot of great catches this season but I’m not sure many will top this one. The undrafted rookie hasn’t been much of a factor this season but that could change after today. If we see more catches like that from Cole, he could be a special player.

Look out, Odell.
