3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Like Jameis Winston’s pregame speeches, the Buccaneers have been weird and confusing this season. They were seen by many as legitimate playoff contenders but it’s been far from that so far. Through nine weeks the Bucs sit at 2-6 and virtually out of the playoff race. If they want any chance to salvage their season a win against the Jets this week is a must.

A game against the Jets usually seems like an easy matchup on paper but that’s not the case. Like we were wrong about the Bucs before the start of the season, the same can be said about the Jets. They’ve overcome disappointment and sit at 4-5 on the season. Without Jameis Winston and on the road, it’s up to Ryan Fitzpatrick to step in and face his old team in a revenge game.

I’m just not sure how I can feel confident about the Bucs this week. They’ve got Fitzpatrick under center and Mike Evans is out with a one-game suspension. Even with Doug Martin back the run game still ranks as one of the worst in the league averaging just over 80 yards per game.

At this point, it’s easier for the Bucs to fold and play for a high draft pick but you know Dirk Koetter isn’t going to go in that direction. He’s fighting for his job and a win Sunday helps take a baby step in the right direction.
