NFL Week 10: These teams are in must-win situations
By Joe Schiller
2. Denver Broncos
How bad have things gotten for the Denver Broncos? Well, let’s just say they certainly didn’t expect to be 3-5 and have Brock Osweiler starting under center nine weeks into the regular season. But, that’s the reality that Vance Joseph’s squad is facing and they’re desperate for a win this week. Confidence isn’t too high as the Broncos go on the road to face the Patriots on Sunday night.
The Broncos’ season is completely falling apart. Through three or four weeks it looked like they were one of the best teams in football. The defense was dominating and Trevor Siemian was playing fantastic under center. But since then, things haven’t been the same. Siemian has played bad enough to get benched the defense isn’t as scary as we originally thought. Carson Wentz and company dropped 51 points on them last week, which is completely unheard of. If Wentz and the Eagles offense can do that, imagine what Tom Brady could do Sunday night.
This game has a potential to be a blowout and not in the Broncos’ favor. I just can’t see where the offensive production is going to come from. C.J. Anderson has been mediocre at best this season and Osweiler is the last quarterback you trust in a big game like this. Even the Browns didn’t want him and that speaks volumes within itself.
The only saving grace for the Broncos is that the Patriots defense has been terrible this season. They continue to lose players with big injuries and are relying on Tom Brady and the offense to keep things afloat. I have no confidence in the Broncos on the road and loss puts them at 3-6 and out of contention this season. But maybe, just maybe they can find a glimmer of hope. With how the NFL has panned out this season, who knows at this point.
