2. You just lost to a top-10 team on the road. Whatever.

This loss will surely sting, but there are certainly worse losses to be had on the annual slate. Why might you ask? Because Auburn was the No. 10 team in the nation and the Dawgs just got whooped on the road. It happens.

Of course, it was going to be a hostile environment for Dawg Nation. Auburn hates Georgia and the Dawgs hate the Tigers, too. The feeling is mutual in this major SEC rivalry, so the No. 1 ranked road team losing to the No. 10 team in their place isn’t shameful at all.

Yes, it is considered an upset to some degree, but one would have to wonder what the outcome could have been if it were in Athens. One would have to think that the College Football Playoff Selection Committee wouldn’t dock the Dawgs too badly for losing a major rivalry game on the road down on The Plains.

Auburn might push towards being one of the first two teams out but won’t jump a one-loss Georgia team just yet. The Dawgs might drop in the rankings but won’t fall out of the top-six after losing a rivalry game on the road to a top-10 team in the country to Auburn. It’s a tough game, guys. This is just how it goes sometimes.
