Saquon Barkley

Running Back, Penn State

The San Francisco 49ers went out and traded for Jimmy Garoppolo a couple weeks back, and all signs are that they will try and sign him to a long-term deal after the season. If they cannot get Jimmy G to stay, they will likely go after Kirk Cousins, who has a history with head coach Kyle Shanahan. Whichever way they decide to go, it will not be picking a quarterback via the draft, where they will likely add arguably the best player in college football.

That player is Saquon Barkley, who has been an absolute star since stepping on campus in Happy Valley. Barkley has his Penn State team as one of the best in the country, and seems to make highlight reel plays on a weekly basis. He would be a perfect fit in San Francisco, as this team needs playmakers, and Barkley is the best one available in this draft class.

Shanahan is going to get his quarterback, whether it is Jimmy G, Cousins, or somebody else. He is not going to stand for historic losing in his first couple of seasons in the Bay Area, and the team actually got a nice win against a bad New York Giants team this past weekend. San Francisco is building from the ground up, and after spending picks to bolster the defense last year, look for them to go offense in round one in 2018.
