SEC power rankings, Week 12: Down goes Georgia! Roll Tide!
By John Buhler
Florida is not bowl eligible, which is unbelievable since the Gators won the SEC East the previous two seasons. My how things have changed in a calendar year. Florida has two winnable games left on the slate versus the UAB Blazers and the Florida State Seminoles. However, Florida could be the only three-win team the SEC has to offer at season’s end.
UAB is already bowl eligible and Florida State still has Jimbo Fisher as its head coach. Florida may think it can land a top-tier coach like Tennessee, but Urban Meyer isn’t walking through that door. The Gators and the Volunteers are embarrassing the SEC. Get it together, guys.
While Bret Bielema is still losing SEC games at Arkansas, he won’t be doing that much longer. On Monday, Arkansas fired its athletic director Jeff Long. You know, the first guy in charge of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee back in 2014. The Razorbacks stink and are complete bereft of talent.
While some would argue that Arkansas will be the best available job in the SEC this coaching cycle due to athletic department stability, that is no longer the case. Look for Arkansas to be a bottom feeder in the SEC West for the rest of the decade unless the Hogs can make a miraculous hire with their new AD.
