Ole Miss Rebels (5-5)

Last week: Win vs. Louisiana-Lafayette, 50-22
Last rank: 9th

Even in a lost year for the program, the Ole Miss Rebels have actually turned some heads this season. Under interim head coach Matt Luke, Ole Miss is hovering around .500. Many thought the Rebels would mail it in and win two games.

Keep in mind that he is doing this with a backup quarterback. Not to say that Luke will get the job full-time, but his team plays with heart. With a lot of SEC teams with a lot of quit in them, it’s somewhat refreshing to see Ole Miss not give up in a situation where most of their peers would.

Missouri Tigers (5-5)

Last week: Win vs. Tennessee, 50-17
Last rank: 10th

Maybe Barry Odom isn’t a bad SEC head coach after all? Then again, his Missouri Tigers are totally benefiting from Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt being in the toilet. Well, those three programs’ demises mean one thing: Mizzou could be going bowling!

Thousands of fans will make the trek to see a 7-5 or 6-6 Tigers team play somebody else you don’t want to watch. But hey, Missouri will be favored in its final two games. Then again, those final two games are against Vanderbilt and Arkansas. For this Missouri team to get to a bowl, that tells you everything you need to know about the state of the bottom third of the SEC in 2017.
