8. Ricky Seals-Jones

Ricky Seals-Jones scored two touchdowns in Week 11, but he didn’t appear on this list last week because it felt like a complete and total aberration. Well, after another good showing in Week 12, it’s time to start taking this Arizona Cardinals tight end seriously. Seals-Jones had literally played one career snap heading into his Week 11 breakout performance, but we’ve seen this kind of thing before with a quarterback change.

Seals-Jones’ sudden uptick in value (any value would have represented an uptick, really) coinciding with the insertion of Blaine Gabbert into the lineup is not a coincidence. Gabbert has been decent in his two starts for the Cards, and it’s clear that he’s got chemistry with Seals-Jones.

Jones has seven catches for 126 yards and three, yes three, touchdowns in just the last two weeks. That kind of production simply cannot be ignored, especially at this point in the season and at a position with questionable depth. He was second on the team in targets on Sunday, trailing only Larry Fitzgerald in that department, and one would think that Gabbert will continue to look his way.

The Cardinals look like they’re refusing to give up on the 2017 season despite losing their starting quarterback and running back to injuries. Seals-Jones is worth a pickup for any team in need of help at the tight end position. It’s totally plausible that he comes crashing back down to earth and never scores another touchdown for the remainder of his career, but it’s also possible that he continues to inch his way toward fantasy starter down the stretch.
