What you missed this week in the NBA: Career nights, Fizdale firing and ejections
5. Jazz Bear
If you don’t have a favorite mascot in the NBA, you do now. The Utah Jazz’s Jazz Bear has emerged as one of the NBA’s best, most entertaining mascots. If not one of the best in all of sports. To put it simply, the Vivint Smart Home Arena was the place to be on Tuesday night. From little girls in bear costumes driving small, electric cars to a not-so-sneaky ‘kidnapping’, the basketball in Utah wasn’t the aspect of the game grabbing all of the attention.
While the Jazz may not be the most entertaining, exciting or best team in the league this year, they have the best halftime entertainment. For halftime on Tuesday, the Jazz Bear decided to hop on a miniature tricycle, slap some nitrogen engines on there and go for a ride around the court while the Jazz dancers, well, dance. And as anybody would expect, when NBA Twitter got their hands on the video, they created the best remixes around.
If you think Jazz Bear’s antics started or finished there, think again. During a fast break in the middle of the game, television cameras caught the furry creature running across the court with a young child draped over his shoulder. Yup, it really happened. There’s no telling what Jazz Bear was up to or why he had the little girl over his shoulder, casually strolling away, but we do know it made for one heck of a surprise.

In addition to Jazz Bear’s antics, the dance cam was pretty wacky as well. Overall, it was one heck of a night in Salt Lake City.
