2. He’s been here before

It’s going to be easy for fans to take a pessimistic approach to the rest of the season but you have to look at the situation realistically. No, Foles isn’t an upgrade over Wentz and no he doesn’t even come close talent wise but it could be a lot worse.

At least Foles has familiarity as a starting quarterback. He’s 20-16 all-time in his career and while his 11-game stint with the Rams back in 2015 wasn’t anything to brag about, Foles was solid with the Eagles, especially in 2013. People forget but Foles threw for 27 touchdowns to just two interceptions in that season, leading the Eagles to an 8-2 record under center and a playoff berth. It was a completely different offense at the time but you can’t fault Foles for his accomplishments. If anything, it instills some confidence in Eagles fans.

It’s not like the Eagles are throwing in a rookie or backup quarterback that’s never played a down in the NFL, Foles has a proven track record. He’s been the backup the entire season and knows the ins and outs of the offense. It shouldn’t be too much a transition and he’ll be ready to play next week against the Giants. Take a look at some of the backup quarterbacks compared to Foles and Eagles fans should be counting their blessings.
