10. The Undertaker’s last ride?

You may be reading this and wondering how the retirement of The Undertaker makes wrestling better. Or, perhaps, why something as monumental as this moment isn’t higher on the list. Allow me to explain.

First of all, it’s sitting at No. 10 (sorry, Tye Dillinger is nowhere to be found on this list) because we still don’t even know for sure if The Undertaker is actually retired or not. He’s confirmed for the 25th anniversary of Monday Night RAW in January, which is right at the start of WrestleMania season, so maybe we’ll finally get that confirmation we’ve been seeking. However, when it’s WrestleMania season and The Undertaker is around, we just don’t know for sure.

With that being said, I honestly do hope that he’s done. I think it would be very interesting for him to come out, break character and announce his retirement but that’s probably a long shot. The real reason that this is on the list at all is because it was done so perfectly. There wasn’t a retirement angle to his match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33 and I’m thankful for that. When Brock Lesnar and Goldberg came out for their WWE Universal Championship bout, we knew that ‘Taker and Roman were going on last and while the outcome was never in doubt, it was still a riveting moment. The match was average, as The Undertaker’s last few matches have been, but the ending was fantastic.

With the lights dimmed, The Undertaker removed his gloves, hat and jacket and placed them in the center of the ring and just walked away. After more than 25 years in WWE, The Undertaker’s career was laid to rest and I don’t even want to see one more match from him. He respected the tradition of going out on his back and he put over a young star. Yes, I’m aware that may not have been the star a lot of you wanted to see him lose to but that’s not changing either so just get used to that. Not many people in the history of WWE have been able to tell a better story than The Undertaker and him telling one last one without saying a word was beautiful.
