Dear Internet,

How about a truce?

We know that the “Falcons blew a 28-3 lead” meme won’t run its course until February and Super Bowl 52. That’s when something new will happen that you’ll go crazy over. If we don’t win, we’re secretly hoping for Cam Newton to be sad again. Shhhh. Don’t tell anyone. But how about we end the meme early?

It’s not that we don’t deserve the ridicule. We only have ourselves to blame for not running the ball in the second half. We just don’t know if people realize what they’re doing. They’re not only making fun of the fact that we blew a 28-3 lead. They’re praising the Patriots for coming back from a 28-3 deficit.

Has that sunk in for everyone?

You’re all praising the Patriots. That team is insufferable as it is. They don’t need the entire internet on their side every time a team in any sport blows a lead. You’re not just reminding the world that we inexplicably stopped running the ball in the second half. You’re reminding the world that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are the greatest duo in NFL history. Does that hurt your stomach, just a little bit?

We all had a good laugh over the meme, but it’s time to let it go. I realize this is asking a lot given that the playoffs are upon us and the meme would typically be out in full force. But we’re going to hear enough about the Patriots and their greatness in the next month. Let’s not bring them up every time someone has a double digit lead.

Top gift choice: No more “Falcons blew a 28-3 lead” meme
Second choice: Sad Cam Newton

Signed, Falcons Fans
