Jim McMahon Division

21. Andy Dalton (Prev: 16)

The Bengals are finally, FINALLY (likely) getting a new head coach at season’s end. The time has come to move on from Dalton as well, who can be cut for a savings of $13.9 million this offseason. Dalton, 30, has shown no improvement over the past two years, and frankly, no signs of being a championship-caliber quarterback.

20. Jacoby Brissett (Prev: 18)

Brissett was buried under a very good defense against the Broncos on Thursday night, only throwing for 158 yards. It’s hard to make a true evaluation of Brissett, though, considering he plays without a running game and behind the league’s worst offensive line.

19. Marcus Mariota (Prev: 19)

Mariota has to play better. Point blank. The Titans are fighting for their playoff lives and Mariota threw for 241 yards on 33 attempts against a poor 49ers secondary. For the year, Mariota has 12 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions.

18. Tyrod Taylor (Prev: NA)

Taylor was solid against the Dolphins, throwing for 221 yards and a touchdown. Some might measure that against Mariota and wonder why Taylor is higher, but the reason is simple. Taylor makes more plays with his legs, doesn’t throw as many interceptions, and has lesser weapons on the outside.

17. Jimmy Garoppolo (Prev: 20)

San Francisco looks like it landed the real deal in Garoppolo. The 49ers won their third straight game with Garoppolo under center, making him 5-0 for his career. He’s completing two-thirds of his throws and has a previously moribund roster winning like there is no tomorrow.
