4. Texas owns the day

After finishing fourth in the Big 12 and making a bowl game in his first season with the Texas Longhorns, Tom Herman has got them going in the right direction. On Wednesday, he stole the show.

If there was any doubt about Herman’s recruiting ability, he might have laid the foundation for a monster to be built in the secondary. Herman managed to bring in six of the top 25 defensive backs in the nation.

That means that there is going to be a boatload of talent in one secondary, and with the offenses in the Big 12, it’s going to be an absolute necessity. If each of these recruits end up being the players they are expected to be, the Longhorns are going to have something special.

When a program elevates themselves to the top, it’s typically because they have one position group that stands out from the rest. If the Longhorns do make that jump, everyone will look back to this recruiting class.

The Longhorns have had a great deal of good defensive backs in their history, but this might just be pure absurdity. Herman made a strong statement on Wednesday, and there should be plenty of buzz in Austin.
