Sit: Marquise Goodwin, WR – San Francisco 49ers

One thing that is agreed upon universally in the NFL is that if a team doesn’t have a good quarterback, they have no chance to win. It looks like the 49ers solved their quarterback problem when they swung a trade with the New England Patriots for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Since he’s taken over, receiver Marquise Goodwin has been a consistent force for fantasy. He had another very solid game this past week against Tennessee. His target share in the offense has been exactly what owners hunt for and the Goodwin-Garoppolo connection has paid off. That is likely to change this week when they face the fearsome Jacksonville Jaguars defense.

There is a lot to like about the 49ers offense in the long-term. They just simply don’t have the firepower this week to deal with the Jaguars. The offensive line is going to struggle to keep Garoppolo upright and Goodwin will have his own problems. He’s got to deal with the cornerback duo of Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Boyue.

It’s hard to see Goodwin getting loose for a deep ball and anyone who plays him is relying on a long catch and run. Smart fantasy owners know when to stay with the player on a hot streak like Alex Collins and when to jump off. That’s the case with Goodwin this week.
