Start: Jay Ajayi, RB – Philadelphia Eagles

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded for running back Jay Ajayi, it was exciting times for fantasy owners. The talented back went from a very mediocre offense in Miami to one of the best in the league. However, the Eagles have opted to utilize running back by committee, which is typically the least favorite phrase in fantasy. It had been a frustrating venture to try and figure out if Ajayi, LeGarrette Blount, or even Corey Clement would get touches in every single week.

Philly got off to a slow start in New York this past week, making it a little harder to project what the share will be. The good news is Ajayi may not need a ton of touches against the poor Oakland Raiders defense.

The Eagles have had to reconfigure their offense on the fly with Wentz being done for the season and they are fortunate to have Nick Foles as their backup quarterback. He’s definitely one of the higher end backups in the league, but Philly still should want to emphasize the run now.

Ajayi went for 80 total yards against the Giants and he’s a better player than Blount. Ajayi brings a lot more to the table as far as elusiveness and in the passing game as well. He’s getting hot at just the right time and the Eagles are making good use of the trade that brought him into Philly.
