6. Todd Gurley makes his MVP case

With Carson Wentz and Antonio Brown injured, it’s easy to point to Tom Brady as this year’s MVP but how about Todd Gurley? He went through a sophomore slump last season but has been nothing short of incredible this year. Gurley made our list last week after his performance against the Seahawks and he continued that against the Titans. He finished the day with 276 total yards from scrimmage and two receiving touchdowns.

Look out Le’Veon Bell, Gurley is making his case as one of the league’s best dual-threat running backs right now. Even against some of the best run defenses, Gurley can’t be stopped. If he continues to play like this, the Rams have to be considered playoff favorites in the NFC.  Gurley’s ability on the ground and as a receiver is unmatched right now.

5. Cam keeps Panthers’ hopes alive

Like the Chargers, the Panthers also almost fell victim to a trap game. They struggled at home against the Buccaneers and it looked like a disappointing loss until Cam Newton took over. He led the Panthers down the field and capped off the game-winning touchdown run with just 35 seconds left in the game. It gave the Panthers a 22-19 win and most importantly clinched a playoff berth.

It doesn’t matter how you win, all it matters is that you did. Not every game is going to be pretty and the Panthers proved that in the three-point win. Sometimes those are the kinds of games that help build confidence heading into the postseason. The Panthers are going to be a sneaky wild-card team that could make some noise the opening round of the playoffs. If they continue to stay hot, look out.
