Philadelphia 76ers – Don’t rush a good thing

There’s a non-player character in World of Warcraft that keeps telling me “Slow down. Life is to be savored.” I think it might be more than one guy. I hear it in various places and when I don’t expect it. It might be in my head, now that I think about it. I’m going to stop thinking about it.

I hate that guy. Every time I hear him, I get out of my chair, do 10 jumping jacks, shotgun an energy drink and spend half of my bank account on electronic products I don’t need. I bought a 12-foot light-up seal the other day. The eyes can be removed and put into a custom built dutch oven to heat over a gallon of liquid to room temperature in less than an hour. It pays for itself.

Anyway, earlier in the season the Sixers made me happy. Now they make me less happy. I pondered this for a bit, and I decided that that’s fine. Joel Embiid is healthy, Ben Simmons is Rookie of the Year and we haven’t even seen a non-injured Markelle Fultz yet. Robert Covington is awesome, Dario Saric is still something and now we can stop thinking about what’s going to happen with Jahlil Okafor. Things are looking up.

We don’t need right now to be everything it will ever be. Some good games, some triple doubles, some trash talk can be enough for the team this year. If the Sixers make the playoffs, that’s tremendous! If they don’t, that doesn’t mean they’re on the road to some sort of disaster. Their best players have very, very little experience. The only way to get experience is to experience things. Do that for a bit. Savor it.
