NBA Mock Draft: DeAndre Ayton joins the Hawks
It’s simple for me with Holder, despite the fact that he is in his third season and may not get much better.
If a guard can finish, shoot and pass, he’s valuable. It’s not complicated.
In leading the Sun Devils to a 12-1 record, Holder demonstrated an ability to pierce defenses consistently, leading a point of attack that gave Arizona State an easy avenue toward points. Holder is scoring 22 points per game to go with 5 assists, becoming the leader of “Guard U” in Tempe. He avoids turnovers and sets guys like Kodi Justice and Shannon Evans up masterfully.
Building from there, we see Holder shooting 46 percent from distance on over six attempts per game. Not many players in the country can make tough shots as a lead ball-handler while maintaining efficiency. Under Bobby Hurley, Holder has improved each season and now is comfortable taking and making difficult shots from each level.
The key for him will be consistency. He should be on NBA teams’ radars by this point, with the success Arizona State has had. As a junior, he will need to prove that the uptick is legit, both by continuing to shoot so well and by leading his team to victories.
