6. Lorenzo Carter – Georgia outside linebacker

Lorenzo Carter has been one of the most loyal Georgia Bulldogs in recent memory. The linebacker had his chance to bolt for the NFL season last year, but decided to stick by with the team after a season that fell short of expectations.

He clearly made the right choice and now he along with the Bulldogs will be competing for a national championship on Monday night. He had the big field goal block in double overtime that ultimately set up the Oklahoma win.

When it comes to outside linebacker prospects, Carter is one of the best and should be an early pick. Whether it’s enough to be a day one pick remains to be seen, but he should be an early day two pick at the worst as well.

Playing on the big stage and having the huge performance that he did in the Rose Bowl was certainly beneficial to his stock. Being able to apply pressure to Jalen Hurts and help in the run defense should help him as well.

He’s got great size and fits the mold of the prototypical outside linebacker that the NFL loves. If he continues to improve as an EDGE defender, he should be a very productive player at the pro level. Returning for his last year was the right decision.
