31. . Quarterback. USC. Sam Darnold. 2. player

The New York Giants were supposed to be a playoff team this season, but it was evident early on that something was a miss. Maybe it was the fact that head coach Ben McAdoo was not ready to lead a team, or maybe it was the injuries to their wide receiving corps. Whatever the reason, the Giants were one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2017, and the losing season saw both McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese lose their jobs.

Fast forward to the 2018 NFL Draft, and it could be time for the Giants to draft their next franchise quarterback. The last time they held the No. 2 pick they selected Lawrence Taylor, so there is a bit of pressure to get this one right. Quarterback Eli Manning is getting up there in age, and with uncertainty surrounding whether or not he will be back with the team next season, they should look to draft USC’s Sam Darnold.

Like Josh Rosen, Darnold made himself eligible for the draft this past weekend, and is certain to be gone in the first ten picks. He had a rough end to his collegiate career, getting blown out by Ohio State, but he showed enough in his two years as a starter to warrant being one of the top prospects in this draft class. Manning may stick around, and could take Darnold under his wing, but either way, they need a quarterback at No. 2.
