5 reasons Saints will beat Vikings
By John Buhler
Do you really think Case Keenum will outplay Drew Brees in a playoff game?
We might have touched on this earlier, but this one is really simple. It is a theme in this divisional round of the NFL playoffs, but the disparagement between the starting quarterbacks in all these games is vast. Do you really think Case Keenum is going to outperform Drew Brees all things equal?
Well, that would only add to the narrative of what has been a career year for Keenum. He may stick with the Vikings beyond this year, or maybe follow his offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to the Arizona Cardinals? Who really knows? Keenum has played well, but Brees is a no-doubt, first ball Pro Football Hall of Fame player.
The best play their best in the playoffs. There are likely four Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterbacks left in this group of eight. No, it would not be shocking to see all four of their teams advance. Minnesota might have the better roster No. 2 to 52 when compared to the Saints. However, it’s Brees versus Keenum and that’s all you need to know.
Brees can lean on the running game if he fells so inclined in this game. Keenum might feel more pressure to let it rip is his defense gives up a bunch of points early to a great Saints offense. Can Keenum attempt to keep pace with a high-octane passer of Brees? Maybe for a while, but you have to take the team with the better quarterback in this one and this is obviously Brees over Keenum.
