NBA Power Rankings: The Heat are looking good
By Daniel Lewis
The Hawks had a heart-breaking loss in Los Angeles to the Clippers on Monday, rallying to take the lead in the fourth quarter after facing a 12-point deficit in the third quarter. Most NBA teams aren’t going to win games where they shoot 40 percent from the field and 27 percent on their 3-point attempts, but they had the final possession of the game with a chance to win and couldn’t convert. The Hawks were able to snap their 10-game road losing streak in Denver against the Nuggets, racking up 110 points in the Mile High City. The Hawks took the lead early in the first and never looked back, lead by 16 points from Taurean Prince. They had six players finish with double-digits in points, and simply took advantage of a Denver team that couldn’t score and didn’t seem to be too interested in playing defense.
The Hawks were competitive against the Nets on Friday, with Schroder scoring a career-high 34 points, but the German point guard missed a layup and then was called for traveling after grabbing the loose ball with five seconds left, squashing any chance at a comeback. The Hawks have lost five of six, and if it wasn’t for that Nuggets win, wouldn’t have had much to be excited about this week.
