66. . G. USC. De'Anthony Melton. 23. player

Devin Booker has made an unforseen leap this year, causing priorities to change in Phoenix. Whereas they may have entered the season expecting to be on the lookout for a dominant  big man, Booker’s developments as a play-maker make it more clear that he belongs in a James Harden or LeBron James type do-it-all role on offense, with shooters at every position around him.

Perhaps that means that spending money or draft picks on a center no longer makes sense, and that players already on the Suns’ roster can handle that position. If so, someone like Melton would bring greater versatility and offensive potential to the team’s roster. He could play with Booker as a combo guard or even as the primary ball-handler on the floor without Booker.

Melton has the makings of a solid jump-shooter and should be able to finish right away. While it may make sense to protect Booker more on defense than Melton would be able to, a pick like this is all about targeting a specific skill set and diving in. Melton is the best option available as an upside ball-handler, and is likely to fall this far thanks to his not playing this season as the FBI investigates USC.
