DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – January 21, 2018
High Salary PG
Kyrie Irving, BOS vs ORL ($8,600): Irving missed Thursday’s game against Philadelphia, but is schedule to return on Sunday. Check his status before committing. He’s coming back against a great matchup as the Magic defense ranks 27th in the league. Irving had 42 fantasy points in 25 minutes against the Magic on Nov. 24. That’s the concern in this one. Irving not getting enough minutes to hit the 38.8 fantasy points he needs to be at value. You can take him knowing you’ll get 35+ fantasy points even in limited action. ***
Elfrid Payton, ORL at BOS ($6,600): Payton has been hit-and-miss and recent contests. He had 41 fantasy points against the Cavaliers on Thursday. If the trend continues, he’ll be under value on Sunday. This is a tough matchup as the Celtics are second against the position in their last 15 games. Payton had 23 fantasy points against the Celtics on Nov. 24. I don’t love the matchup and Payton has been way too inconsistent this season to think he’ll over perform against such a tough defensive team. **
Spencer Dinwiddie, BKN at DET ($6,300): D’Angelo Russell returned on Friday against the Heat, but saw limited minutes was not effective. Dinwiddie missed value, posting 25.5 fantasy points in that contest. Dinwiddie’s miss had more to do with the matchup than Russell. Until Russell shows more in his return, Dinwiddie should continue to be a solid play and the offensive leader. The Pistons are 19th against the position in their last 15 games. ***
