2. Making Los Angeles a free agent destination

Pelicans receive: Jordan Clarkson, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle, 2018 second-round pick and 2019 first-round pick

Lakers receive: Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers without a doubt want to be in contention for the playoffs within the next year or two. In order to do that they need to bring in some big name guys that would instantly make their team better. Bringing in Anthony Davis would not only make the team instantly better, but would also serve as a pretty nice selling point for potential free agents to come play for the Lakers.

Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson were already on the trading block, and Clarkson needs to be dealt in order to create cap space so why not put them to good use in a trade like this. Brandon Ingram is a necessary piece to add, because the Pelicans aren’t just going to want Clarkson and only half a season of Randle. The Lakers also aren’t going to trade Lonzo Ball, because whether we want to admit it or not the Lakers are a better team with him on the floor. Either way with the addition of Anthony Davis it wouldn’t be too far fetched to believe that they could get LeBron James to come to L.A.

As for the Pelicans this wouldn’t be all that bad. Besides the fact that Ingram can effectively kill any offensive set by stopping ball movement the Pelicans get two guys that can score. Both Ingram and Clarkson are capable of creating and making their own shot. As an added bonus Ingram is a small forward, and a good one at that. The Pelicans haven’t had a decent player at the three spot in what seems like forever.

Clarkson has always seemed better off coming off the bench which wouldn’t be a bad idea. He would without a doubt be instant offense with the second unit especially when Cousins is on the bench. As for Randle the Pelicans can choose to start him or bring him off the bench it really wouldn’t matter. All he needs to do is run the floor, and with a guy like Rajon Rondo finding him in transition he could be very effective.
