9. James Harrison, New England

This really won’t sit well with the folks in Pittsburgh but linebacker James Harrison has the potential to walk away with the MVP. After he literally slept his way through team meetings and out of the Steelers locker room, Harrison was quickly snapped up by the Patriots. That’s exactly what coach Bill Belichick does and it’s still a major question as to why the Steelers let Harrison go so late in the season.

Their poor personnel management gave the Patriots a pass rusher they desperately needed. Harrison isn’t as good as he once was but he’s got something left in the tank and has plenty of big game experience. He’s also the author of one of the most memorable plays in Super Bowl history.

It would take a Herculean effort like this play for Harrison to capture an MVP award over his offensive team mates but it’s certainly not out of the question. An interception isn’t likely but a strip sack and fumble return is definitely in play for the old war horse. Harrison has said he wants to continue to play past this season. He also doesn’t know if he’ll ever play in another Super Bowl. Expect him to go all-out to leave his mark this Sunday.
